Enchanting Southern Vietnam: A 6-Day Adventure is a meticulously crafted itinerary that perfectly captures the dual soul of the South: the vibrant, historical energy of the city and the serene, sun-drenched relaxation of the coast. Over six days, you will transition from the bustling streets of Ho Chi Minh City to the lush waterways of the Mekong Delta, concluding with a refreshing beach escape in the desert-like landscapes of Mui Ne.
This tour is designed for those who want a comprehensive "best-of" experience without the rush. It balances high-impact historical sites like the Cu Chi Tunnels with the "slow travel" charm of Tam Hiep Island and the iconic shifting sand dunes of Phan Thiet. By combining urban exploration, rural culture, and coastal leisure, this 6-day journey offers an enchanting narrative of Vietnam’s Southern diversity.
Ho Chi Minh City & Cu Chi Tunnels
Begin with a deep dive into Vietnam's history. Explore the legendary Cu Chi Tunnels, an underground city that showcases incredible wartime ingenuity. Follow this with a city tour of HCMC’s landmarks, including the Notre Dame Cathedral, the General Post Office, and the Reunification Palace, before ending the day at the vibrant Ben Thanh Market.
Ben Tre: Tam Hiep Island Experience
Journey to the "Home of Coconuts" for a truly local encounter. Visit workshops producing activated charcoal and traditional coconut treats. Take a local boat to Tam Hiep Island, where you’ll bike through quiet village paths, sample herbal jelly (Lá Sâm) fresh from the farm, and enjoy a home-cooked lunch with a local family.
Can Tho: The Delta Capital
Experience the heartbeat of the Mekong in Can Tho. This segment focuses on the river’s lifeblood, providing the perfect base to explore the region’s largest cultural hubs and ancient communal houses, such as Long Thanh, while enjoying the warmer hospitality of the Southern people.
Mui Ne: Shifting Sand Dunes & Sea
Trade the river for the coast as you drive through lush rubber plantations toward the semi-desert landscape of Mui Ne. Spend your final days exploring the surreal White and Yellow Sand Dunes, which change shape with the wind, and relaxing on the pristine beaches of this internationally recognized coastal haven.
Highlights
What Makes This Tour Unique
The "River to Reef" Transition
This is one of the few short-duration tours that successfully bridges the gap between the muddy, fertile waters of the Mekong and the turquoise waves of the South China Sea, providing two distinct "water" experiences in one trip.
Off-the-Beaten-Path Mekong
While many tours stick to the main riverbanks, we take you to Tam Hiep Island in Ben Tre. This ensures a quieter, more authentic interaction with farmers and artisans away from the heavy tourist traffic.
Geological Diversity
In just 6 days, you will walk through tropical jungles (Cu Chi), navigate palm-shaded canals (Mekong), and explore arid, desert-like dunes (Mui Ne)—a remarkable spectrum of landscapes for a single region.
Balanced Leisure & Discovery
The itinerary is front-loaded with history and culture, leaving the final days in Mui Ne for "free-at-leisure" time. This ensures you return from your holiday feeling rejuvenated rather than exhausted.

How long is the drive to Mui Ne? The drive from HCMC to Mui Ne is approximately 200km and takes about 4–5 hours, including stops. The landscape changes from lively cities to lush rubber plantations, making it a scenic journey.
Can we do water sports in Mui Ne? Yes! Mui Ne is famous for kite surfing and windsurfing. We leave Day 5 as a free day so you can book these activities at your leisure.
Is the cycling in Ben Tre difficult? No, the paths on Tam Hiep Island are very flat and shaded. If you prefer not to bike, we can easily arrange a walk or a local "xe loi" instead.
What is the "herbal jelly" mentioned in the itinerary? It is Sương Sâm, a traditional jelly made from creeper leaves. It’s a refreshing, healthy local treat that you'll get to help prepare!
Are the sand dunes hot? We typically visit the dunes in the late afternoon to witness the sunset and avoid the midday heat, ensuring a much more comfortable and photogenic experience.
